Catering Tutor – HMP Belmarsh - Prison Education

Location: HMP Belmarsh
Salary: From £30,000 + £5,000 London Weighting
Contract: Permanent

Hours: Monday – Thursday, 7:45am – 5:00pm, Friday 7:45am – 12:30pm

About the Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners within a secure environment by delivering high‑quality Catering qualifications. Based onsite at HMP Belmarsh, you will work with small groups of adult learners to help them develop the professional skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to progress into meaningful work.

Prison education plays a crucial role in rehabilitation—supporting individuals to develop practical skills, gain accredited qualifications and build confidence that enhances their chances of successful resettlement. Education providers across the prison estate deliver more than two million hours of face‑to‑face learning each year, offering everything from basic education to vocational qualifications such as catering and hospitality.
These programmes have been shown to increase motivation, build confidence and provide learners with clearer pathways into employment upon release. [peopleplus.co.uk] [committees...liament.uk]
